Wireless Transmission of Scenic Area Surveillance Video

Jaguar Wave utilized mmWave wireless transmission devices to establish a remote transmission link, assisting Zimao Mountain National 3A-level Scenic Area in Zimao Town, Jinjiang City, in achieving wireless transmission of mountainous area surveillance video data. By utilizing the long-range, high-bandwidth, and low-latency advantages of mmWave technology, the system wirelessly transmits surveillance video data to the town government's server room 4 kilometers away, effectively resolving the challenges of fiber optic deployment in mountain area.

Challenge

The camera installed on Lingxiao Tower in Zimao Mountain frequently interrupted in surveillance video transmission due to damaged fiber optics, preventing real-time monitoring of the mountain area, and a wireless solution was required to replace wired transmission. Since the Lingxiao Tower is 4km away from the town government, the wireless transmission devices needed long-distance capabilities. The long-distance, high-bandwidth, low-latency, and anti-interference characteristics of mmWave wireless transmission device can fully meet this demand without the need to deploy additional optical fibers.

Solution

Two mmWave wireless transmission devices (JW-PTP6500) were deployed. One device was installed on Lingxiao Tower in Zimao Mountain and connected to the camera via cable. The other one was installed on the rooftop of the town government’s server room and connected to the server room via cable. After alignment, the two devices established a wireless link, creating a dedicated channel for transmitting surveillance data from the camera.

Results

Surveillance video from the camera was transmitted to the data center in real time, clear and fluent. Through the pan-tilt control, the camera rotates without delay.

The two mmWave devices maintained a stable wireless transmission rate of 800 Mbps over the 4 km distance, with air interface latency below 10ms and average full-load latency under 15ms.

The unique high-frequency band of mmWave avoided signal interference from nearby base stations, high-voltage towers, and other equipment, ensuring secure and stable transmission.

mmWave devices are smaller volume and lightness, can be installed on poles, walls and tripods, simplifying deployment and significantly reducing construction timelines and costs.

mmWave device realizes wireless transmission, which solves the problems of difficult deployment of optical fiber, easy destruction and difficult maintenance in scenic area.

mmWave wireless transmission overcomes the difficulties of laying cables across rivers and mountains, saving labor and resources. Its high bandwidth supports fast, stable, long-distance transmission of high-definition video, while its resistance to interference from other wireless frequencies ensures prolonged reliability. mmWave device is small, light and easy-to-install, which avoids the later maintenance costs caused by natural disasters and animal damage, offering a cost-effective solution for scenarios where fiber optic deployment is impractical.
